Inspiration is a sense which full of infectious and heuristic.According to Media/Impact, an introduction to mass media by Shirley Biagi, mass media not only shine and affect politics, society and culture but also provides the audiences information and entertainment to fulfill their needs. Selective perception can be define as a concept that every people will processes informations and messages individually. When an information or messages was sent through media, different person will base on their background, own hobby and the level of education to receive and react to the information and messages. For example, a college student like to watch comedy, animation and adventure this three genres of movie like Frozen, their family particle most probably also will like to watch because they are influence by each other. One person will choose what to do what to read wand what to watch base on their own interest. Then, when a high educational audience watching movie Frozen, they will have much more inspiration toward the moral value of the movie as compare to low educational audiences. The high educational audiences will pay deep fear to what they have watched and will think that if the message they received can influence their minds and they will apply it in their daily life. For low educational audiences, they will think that watch movie just part of recreation.According to Mass communion Theory by Baran SJ and Davis, selective perception is the psychological recasting which gist people will change the essence of an information and message so that it is same with the persons belief and attitudes.ResearchOur title for the research about Frozen is Do college students find the Frozen movie as inspiring?,we had do several discourse about the movie Frozen. We interview them inside the college and also outside the college. Inside the college means we interview the students at the canteen or in the library, some of them were at foyer. For the outside of the college, we went to the hostels of students or interview them at the restaurants near the hostel. We took interview when we had no class which means the time that we were f ree when we waited for the next class. The interview was also been taking when we finish all our class if we had nothing to do next. When taking the interview, we will interview the students one by one. We record their students ID, faculty and all the answers in the paper. After we finish all the interviews, we made conclude about the survey.FindingsFor question 1, we asked our interviewees Have you watched the movie Frozen? and all the 15 college students that we have interviewed answered Yes without any hesitation because Frozen is a very popular movie and it is impossible if no one has ever watched it before. For question 2, we asked where exactly did they watch the movie Frozen and 60% which means 9 out of 15 of them said that they have watched it at home on the Internet and on television whereas 40% which are 6 out of 15 of them said that they have watched it on the cinema. Watching Frozen at home is easier as they can easily download it from the Internet and watch it on their l aptop or on their television. For question 3, we asked them whether the movie Frozen was inspiring and 66.66% which are 10 out of 15 gave positive answers while 33.33% which are 5 out of 15 gave negative answers. The movie itself has a administrate of moral set to learn from which is why the majority did find the movie to be inspiring. For question 4, we asked them whether the movie Frozen had inspired them to do anything and 40% which are 6 out of 15 of them said Yes while 60% which are 9 out of 15 said No. The majority agreed that Frozen has inspired them to do something with themselves or within their lives as the movie focus a lot on relationships, friendships, trust and never giving up on something you believe in.For question 5, we asked them which scene in the movie Frozen had inspired them the most and 93.33% which are 14 out of 15 gave positive answers while 6.66% which are 1 out of 15 gave negative answers. They also loved how Anna had worked really hard to try and find her sister Elsa in the winter all by herself. For question 6, we asked them which character had inspired them the most and 40% which are 6 out of 15 said Elsa, 40% which are 6 out of 15 said Anna, 6.66% which are 1 out of 15 said Olaf, 6.66% which are 1 out of 15 said Kristoff and 6.66% which are 1 out of 15 said that no character had inspired them at all. The main characters are Elsa and Anna therefore the movies main focus is on them which is why the majority look up on these two characters as these characters had taught them the meaning of freedom and to never give up even when it seems like it is impossible. For the last question which is question 7, we asked them whether the Let It Go song was inspiring and asked them to give a reason why, 93.33% which are 14 out of 15 gave positive answers while 6.66% which are 1 out of 15 gave negative answers. The majority said that the song had taught them the meaning of freedom and it also helped them to release their stress.ConclusionIn short, we found out that the majority of the students we have interviewed do find the movie Frozen as inspiring. We used selective perception as our theory to do our research and to find out if college students find Frozen as inspiring. Selective perception is where you read the same thing but understand it differently based on your background, interests and level of education. This theory and our research have proved to be true as different people do understand the same thing differently. All the students we interviewed have different perspectives on Frozen. close to of them watched it on the cinema while others watched it at home on their television and on the Internet. All of the students loved Elsa and Anna because of their sister relationship. Their favorite part was when Elsa caused it to winter in Arendelle. Everyone thought that it was the best scene because her e in Malaysia it has never snowed before and we do not have winter therefore watching it snow in Arendelle gave them an experience of how it feels like. Frozen had managed to inspire some of the students that we have interviewed even though it is just a cartoon. They said that Frozen has a lot of moral values and meanings. Other than that, they also said that Frozen had given them different emotions. Some said that the movie was sad and some said that it actually made them happy. When asked which scene was the most inspiring, some of them said that the scene where Elsa ran away because it showed them that Elsa wanted her freedom and she got it while the minority thought that that scene meant that we cannot run away from our problems even if we move to as it has consequences. Elsa and Anna were the most inspiring characters to our interviewees as these characters have taught them to never give up even when it seemed like it was impossible. Our assort has learned that Frozen has dif ferent meaning to different kinds of people. When asked whether the theme song Let It Go was inspiring, the majority gave positive answers and tells us their reason of why they think so. They said that the song lets them feel freedom and that the song is meaningful, nice and lovely. The song also helped some of them to release their stress as the song itself focuses on letting go of your problems. This research has taught us more than enough about Frozen and the selective perception theory.Working in a group was not an easy thing to go through if group member do not give full corporation to each other. Luckily, our group member tend to work together and complete the assignment on time. Through this assignment, we know that media play an important role in our daily life as it affect what we going to think about. Not to forget our learn Ms. Louise who always guide us not only to complete the assignment but also increase our knowledge in media field which will help us in the future as a Public Relation students.References1. According to the Center for indisposition constraint and Prevention, cigargontte smoking accounts for around one of every five deaths in the United States (Center for unsoundness find out and Prevention). When a person is addicted to a substance, they become a compulsive urge to seek out and use the substance, even when they understand the harmful do it can have (Brunton, Chabner, Knollman, 2011). Tobacco products atomic number 18 addictive. With each inhalation of a cig atomic number 18tte the smoker pulls nicotine and other harmful substances into the lungs, where it is mantled into the blood stream (Brunton, Chabner, Knollman, 2011). Nicotine is shaped like the natural brain chemical acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is a chemical called a neurotransmitter this carries messages between the brain cells or neurons (Brunton, Chabner, Knollman, 2011). Theses brain cells or neurons have specialized proteins called receptors, into which specific neurotransmitters fit. Nicotine locks into acetylcholine receptors. Nicotine attaches to acetylcholine receptors that release a neurotransmitter called dopamine. Dopamine is released commonly when a person discovers something pleasurable. Smoking causes neurons (brain cells) to release excess dopamine, which is the cause of feelings of pleasure when smoking (Brunton, Chabner, Knollman, 2011). This effect wears off quickly, ca victimisation the smoker to get the urge to alight up another cigarette for another dose of the drug (Brunton, Chabner, Knollman, 2011).Nicotine is the primary addictive component in tobacco, but it is not the only important member (Brunton, Chabner, Knollman, 2011). People who smoke have a reduction in the level of an enzyme called monoamine oxidase (MAO) in the brain and body. Lower levels of MAO in the brain may lead to higher dopamine levels and this leads to the reason people continue to smoke and continue to get the pleasurable effects from smoking (Brunton, Chabner, Knollman, 2011).Long-term use of nicotine products leads to addiction. The way nicotine is absor bang and metabolized by the body enhances its addictive potential (Brunton, Chabner, Knollman, 2011). Each inhalation brings rapid distribution of nicotine to the brain, but it quickly disappears along with the pleasurable feelings. This triggers the smoker to seek that same pleasurable sensation throughout the day (Brunton, Chabner, Knollman, 2011). Over the course of the day tolerance develops, requiring more frequent doses or higher doses to get the same effect. Nicotine, heroin, and cocaine have similar effects on the brain (Brunton, Chabner, Knollman, 2011). numerous people who have a nicotine addiction are in denial. They may be kind smokers, meaning they only smoke when out with friends, or they believe they can stop when they are ready (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 20 08). Recognizing the signs of addiction is important for the acquiring over the addiction. Common signs of addiction include requiring change magnitude use of tobacco to get the same satisfaction, experiencing withdrawal when nicotine levels are low, having the desire to quit but not creation able to, experiencing cravings and urges to smoke, and continuing to smoke despite being aware of the health risks (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008).The physical symptoms of nicotine addiction are caused by withdrawal. breakup occurs because the brain can no longer naturally produce adequate levels of dopamine. Nicotine withdrawal symptoms include anxiety, frustration, irritability, depression, difficulty concentrating, increased appetite, and weight gain (Brunton, Chabner, Knollman, 2011).Some of the health risks associated with nicotine use include chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD), lung cancer, asthma, mucilage disease, mouth and esophageal cancer, watch disease, and stroke. The carcinogens in tobacco products cause abnormal cell harvesting that can develop into cancer (Brunton, Chabner, Knollman, 2011).Deciding to quit smoking is the first step toward becoming a non-smoker and better health (Center for Disease Control and Prevention). by and by quitting, the risk of stroke can be reduced to that of a non-smoker in as little as two years after quitting (Center for Disease Control and Prevention). Heart rate and blood pressure return to the non-smoker levels after only two hours of not smoking. The rate of heart disease related to smoking is decrease to fifty percent and the rate of lung cancer is substantially reduced (Center for Disease Control and Prevention).Steps to nicotine abuse and addiction recovery that may help are to set a date to quit this allows the person to get in the mindset to stop (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008). Knowing the triggers that make the person want to smoke is another important factor. Some triggers commonly observed that increase the desire to smoke are after a meal, while driving, drinking alcohol, boredom, stress, coffee, and being around other people that smoke (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008). Having a strong support system is another important factor in quitting. ratting the people around the smoker of the decision to quit may help to support the decision as well as holding the smoker responsible for the goal of quitting. It is easier to stop smoking if the people around support the effort to stop smoking (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008).If the smoker is thinking about quitting, or has made the decision to quit, there are several products to help in the process of quitting and prevent many of the withdrawal symptoms. Nicotine replacement is an alternative to stopping cold. Many people find it easier to use a replacement therapy such as the nicotine tack together, inhalator, or nicotine gum. This may make the transition easier a nd more comfortable for the person difficult to quit (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008).Tobacco dependence is a chronic disease that often requires repeated interventions and multiple attempts to quit. Effective treatments exist however, that can significantly increase the rate of long-term abstinence. Counseling and musics are effective when used by themselves. The combination of counseling and medications, however, is more effective than either alone (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008).Products designed to help quit tobacco abuse and addictionBupropion SR treatment should begin one to two weeks sooner the quit date. The start dose for tobacco cessation is 150mg orally every morning for three days, then 150mg orally twice daily. This acid should be continued for seven to 12 weeks. For long-term dosage, use of bupropion SR 150 mg for up to hexad months post-quit may be used (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008).Common side effects inc lude insomnia and dry mouth. Insomnia may be addressed by taking the evening pill at least eight hours before bedtime, with at least eight hours between doses (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008).Nicotine gum is operable in both regular and flavored forms. The gum dosage is available in two atomic number 12s and four milligram doses. Smokers should use at least one piece every one to two hours for the first six weeks (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008). The gum should be used for up to twelve weeks with no more than twenty-four pieces to be used per day. Common side effects of the gum include mouth soreness, hiccups, dyspepsia, and scold ache. These effects are generally mild and transient, often caused by the patients chew technique (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008). This can be ameliorate by correct chewing techniques. The gum should be chewed slowly until taste emerges, then parked between the cheek and gum line to facilitate absorpt ion. The gum should be slowly and intermittently chewed and parked for around thirty minutes or until taste dissipates from the gum (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008).Nicotine Inhalers- A dose from the nicotine inhaler consists of a puff or inhalation. Each cartridge delivers a total of one milligram of nicotine over eighty inhalations (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008). Recommended dosage is six to sixteen cartridges per day. Duration of the therapy is up to six months. Side effects include local irritation in the mouth and throat, coughing, and rhinitis. The severity of the irritation is mild and the oftenness of symptoms decline with continuous use (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008).Nicotine lozenges are available in two milligrams and four milligram doses (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008). Generally, smokers should use at least nine per day in the first six months of therapy, and should be used for up to twelve weeks, with no more than twenty lozenges used per day (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008). The two milligram is recommended for smokers that have the first cigarette more than thirty minutes after waking. The four milligram is used for patients that have the first cigarette within thirty minutes of waking (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008). The most common side effects include nausea, dry mouth, hiccups, and heart burn. Use of the four milligram lozenges may also cause increased rates of headaches and coughing. The lozenge should be allowed to dissolve in the mouth rather than chewing or swallowing it (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008).Nasal spraying- The nicotine nasal spray produces higher peak nicotine levels than other nicotine replacement therapies (NRT) and has the highest dependency potential (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008). A dose of the nasal spray consists of one 0.5 mg dose delivered to each nostril (1mg total). Ini tial dosing should be one spray per hour, increasing as infallible for symptom relief (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008). Minimum dosage is eight doses daily with a maximum of forty doses per day. Each bottle contains around one hundred doses. Recommended duration of therapy is three to six months (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008). Patients should not sniff, swallow or inhale through the nose while administering doses, as this increases irritation. The spray is best delivered with the head slightly tilted back. Users report moderate to severe nasal irritation in the first two days of use. Nasal congestion and transient changes to taste and smell are also reported (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008).Nicotine patches treatment of eight weeks or less have been shown to be as effective as longer treatment periods (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008). Patches of different doses are available. Dosing regimens should be based on p atient characteristics such as hail smoked and degree of dependence (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008). The step down dosage includes four weeks of twenty-one milligram per day patches, then two weeks of the 14 milligram per day patches, then two weeks of the seven milligram per day patches (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008). There is a single dose regimen available in twenty-two and eleven milligram per day patches for other step down regimens. Up to fifty percent of patients using the patch volition experience a local skin reaction. These skin reactions are usually mild and self-limiting, but may be worsened during the course of therapy (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008). local anesthetic treatment with a one percent hydrocortisone cream or a five percent triamcinolone cream, and rotation of patch sites may ease the skin irritation. Other side effects of the patches include insomnia and vivid or strange dreams. At the start of each d ay the patient should place a patch in a relatively hairless area, typically between the neck and waist, rotating the site daily to reduce irritation (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008). The patch should be applied as soon as the patient wakes on the quit day. If insomnia is a problem, the patient should remove the patch prior to going to bed (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008).Varenicline is an approved non-nicotine agent for smoking cessation (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008). The FDA added a warning regarding the use of this agent. Depressed mood, agitation, changes in behavior, suicidal ideation, and self-destruction have been reported in patients attempting to quit smoking when using Varenicline (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008). Any history of psychiatric illness should be discussed before using this medication. Side effects of the medication include nausea, trouble sleeping, and abnormal or vivid dreams (Center for D isease Control and Prevention, 2008).The patient should start Varenicline one week before the quit date, with a dose of 0.5 milligram daily for three days followed by 0.5 milligram twice daily for four days, followed by one milligram twice daily for three months. Varenicline is approved for maintenance therapy for up to six months (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008). The patient should quit smoking on day eight, when the dosage is increased to one milligram twice daily. To reduce the insomnia problem, the second dose should be taken at dinner time rather than bedtime. To reduce the nausea, the medication should be taken on a full stomach (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008).Varenicline is a non-nicotine medication. The mechanism of action is due to its partial nicotine receptor admirer and antagonistic effects (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008). Because Varenicline is eliminated almost entirely unchanged in the urine it should be used with caution in patients with severe nephritic dysfunction. It is not recommended to be used with other nicotine replacement therapies because of its nicotine antagonistic properties (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008).Plan of treatmentPatient bequeath be advised that the increased cough and mucus production is related to the use of tobacco products and that once he no longer smokes the frequency of cough and mucus production will decrease as this is related to irritation in the lungs caused by tobacco use. A smokers cough is a persistent cough that develops in long-term smokers. At first it may be dry, but over time it usually produces phlegm. The cough is usually worst upon awakening and improves throughout the day. The airways are lined with tiny hair like cells called cilia, which catch toxins in inhaled air and move them upward toward the mouth to be expelled. Smoking paralyzes these cells. Instead of toxins being caught in transit, toxins enter the lungs and create inflammation. This leads to coughing as the lungs attempt to clear these toxins. As the Celia begins to repair themselves during the night and attempt to remove the accumulated substances from the lungs, the result is coughing upon arising. This cough will usually fade as the Celia is allowed to repair themselves from the abstinence of cigarette smoking.Treatment will consist of smoking cessation counseling and support, Varenicline 0.5 mg daily, starting line immediately, orally once daily for three days, then 0.5 mg orally twice daily for four days, followed by one mg orally twice daily for three months. Follow up should be in three days to evaluate side effects and patient response. The next follow-up will be dependent on patient progress and response to medication. The patient will be instructed on the community resources for smoking cessation support groups and how to hump with the stress of not smoking and how to manage daily frustrations related to smoking cessation. Dietary counsel will be offered for possible nutrition advice and weight management. The patient will be encouraged to enroll in an exercise program or to increase physical activities during the initial phase of smoking cessation. A breast x-ray will be ordered, at the patients convenience, to rule out COPD or other lung issues.ReferencesBrunton, L., Chabner, B., Knollman, B. (2011). NASA is a Waste of Money :: Politics Government

Were you aware that the budget for space exploration extends well over thirty-two one thousand thousand dollars? People are dying of hunger overseas, not level wealthy enough to feed their own families, and NASA is expense twenty billion dollars to put a man on the moon What did we learn on the moon, how can this endeavor help mankind? Nothing, and it cant Some people declare that space exploration is mans greatest enterprise into the un make loven. Space exploration is no great endeavor, it is in fact mans greatest waste of money and time that could be better spent elsewhere.Did you know that NASA spends up to fifteen point forty seven billion dollars per space mission? The Space Review is a pretty reputable site for acquirement related news, one account stated that, ?No firm cost estimates?. cost of Mars expedition estimated at nearly one trillion dollars?. That is a great deal of money that could easily pay for multiple operations all over America, and other places too. A spac ecraft en-route to Mars exploded in nineteen sixty-nine by USSR technicians. These failures are taking queen-sized chunks out of NASA?s (over-sized) budget, often of which is being funded toward more inevitable failures. They say that you learn from your mistakes, hardly those mistakes can lead to some way bigger problems. These expeditions are taking too much time as it is. It took us four years retributory to take pictures of the surface of Mars. I saw these pictures, and I must say, I have seen better views of Mars taken through a telescope. This is too much time taken just to get some bad pictures of a planet that, sources suggest, has long been dead. Half of NASA?s rovers haven?t even got to the planet, even less have ever even sent any data back to Earth. Numerous satellites, spacecrafts, and rovers are endlessly exploding, getting lost in space, and so on. Until we can send things into space with a one hundred percent chance of success, we shouldn?t send any up period. Al l this money that NASA is spending on failed missions could save countless lives, multiple times over. As mentioned previously, people are dying overseas starving, dying of dehydration, perishing ever so slowly. Their lives gradually wasting away away to nothing, while some people are using the money that could be used to send them food and medicine, in order to send big hunks of metal into space which, as they say, is a whole bunch of nothing I will admit that money isn?

Gregor Johann Mendel :: essays research papers

Gregor Johann Mendel     Gregor Mendel was one of the first people in the history of science todiscover genetics. He independently discovered his work and lived in Brunn,Czechoslovakia. In Brunn he was a monk and later the Abbot of the church inBrunn. While he was in Brunn he performed many experiments with garden peas. With the information he observed he wrote a paper where he described thepatterns of inheritance in terms of vii pairs of contrasting traits thatappeared in different pea-plant varieties. All of the experiments he performedutilized the pea-plant, which in this case is the basis of the experiment.Mendels work was reported at a meeting of the Brunn cabaret for the Study ofNatural Science in 1865, and was published the following year. Mendels paperpresented a completely new and unique documented theory of inheritances, but itdid not lead immediately to a cataclysm of genetic research. The scientists whoread his papers of complex theories, dismissed i t because it could be explainedin such a simple model. He was rediscovered by Hugo de Vries in The Netherlands,Carl Correns in Germany, and Evich Tschermak in Austria all at the same timeafter 1900. They named the units Mendel described "genes." When the gene has aslighty different base taking over it is called an "allele."     Mendel also developed 3 laws or principles. The first principle iscalled the, "Principle of Segregation." This principle states that the traits ofan organism are determined by individual units of heredity called genes. some(prenominal)adult organisms have one allele from each parent, which gives both organisms 2alleles. The alleles are separated or "segregated" from each other with thereproductive cadre formation. Mendels second principle is the, "Principle ofindependent assortment." This principle states that the expression of a gene for

Aftircan American Progress in World War II Essay -- essays research pa

human being War II, global military conflict that, in terms of lives lost and material destruction, was the most devastating war in humankind history. It began in 1939 as a European conflict between Germany and an Anglo-French coalition but eventually widened to include most of the nations of the world. It ended in 1945, leaving a new world order dominated by the United States and the USSR.More than any previous war, World War II involved the commitment of nations holy human and economic resources, the blurring of the distinction between combatant and noncombatant, and the expansion of the battlefield to include all of the enemys territory. The most important determinants of its outcome were industrial capacity and personnel. In the last stages of the war, two radically new weapons were introduced the long-range rocket and the atomic bomb. In the main, however, the war was fought with the same or improved weapons of the types used in World War I. The greatest advances were in air craft and tanks. For African Americans, World War II was a fight on two fronts. It was a struggle to prevail all over the nations external enemies and a battle against a familiar home-grown foe bigotry (Allen). When World War II began in Europe in 1939, dours demanded better treatment than they had experienced during World War I. Black newspaper editors insisted during 1939 and 1940 that bootleg support for this war effort would depend on fair treatment. They demanded that black soldiers be trained in all military roles and that black civilians have equal opportunities to work in war industries at home. African Americans were some of the quick and most energetic to condemn the risings of fascism in Europe. They instantly understood the risks Nazism and its Aryan doctrines imposed on the world. Some had read Hitlers Mein Kampf and had taken horror to its unfavorable comments toward blacks. It was also claimed that in 1936 Hitler had refused to treat African American Olympic stars Jesse Owens and Ralph Metcalf with common decency in Berlin. Also the knockout of the black idol Joe Louis in 1936 by Max Schmeling had fueled some bitter emotions toward Nazism and it was fueled once again when Louis exacted his complete revenge in 1938.At the beginning of the war Afri... ...seat at the back of the bus. Robinson refused. He was arrested and court-martialed for disrespectful conduct and disobeying orders, he was acquitted, but the incident prevented him from going overseas with the 761st (Allen). Robinson would go on to become the first black baseball player to integrate the major leagues. The World War II experience was a watershed for African Americans. Jim Crow remained intact, but the ideological bases of white victory and colonialism were undermined by the horrors of the Holocaust (Earle 87). The war experience gave about one million blacks the opportunity to fight racism in Europe and Asia, a fact that black veterans would remember during the struggle agains t racism at home after the war. Perhaps just as important, almost ten times that many white Americans witnessed the firm service of black Americans. Many of them would object to the continued denial of civil rights to the men and women beside whom they had fought. After World War II the momentum for racial commute continued. Black soldiers returned home with determination to have full civil rights. President Harry Truman ordered the final desegregation of the armed forces in 1948.
